Jesus, you want me to enter your way through the narrow gate. It is so difficult, because I can’t take everything with me and I have to decide what to leave. I have to choose what is the most important for me today. Now. If I wanted to still go through a wide gate, which tempts apparent ease, I would try to bring everything to the end. And I won’t be strong enough to do it. Then I may be forced to reject what is most important – because it’s too heavy – and I will try to carry my trinkets. Jesus, help me now to leave what does not brings me closer to you.
Saint Rita, going on the religious life you learned perfect obedience on the model of your Master. Each command of your superiors, you’ve been trying to fill as if you received them directly from The Bridegroom. Teach me this obedience to His Word – because of love, not out of fear. Obtain for me the grace to discern His will. A powerful advocate in difficult matters, listen with kindness begging my afflicted heart and obtain for me the grace that I need so desperately. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
